Sound Engineer/Technician(s) are required to assemble, operate and maintain the technical equipment used to record, amplify, enhance, mix or reproduce sound. They need to identify the sound requirements for a given task or situation and perform the appropriate actions to produce this sound.
Roles & Responsibilities:
Sound technician roles are split into two categories:
- Production – The recording of all sound of games with vocalist/sound artist.
- Post-Production - The balancing, mixing, editing, designing and enhancing of pre-recorded audio.
Production activities include:
ü Assessing the acoustics of the performance area and assembling and operating the necessary equipment.
ü Consulting with Project Manager(s) and performer to determine the sound requirements.
ü Selecting, positioning, adjusting and operating the equipment used for amplification and recording.
ü Applying technical knowledge of sound recording equipment to achieve the determined artistic objectives.
ü Candidate would be responsible for recording of game audio tracks.
ü Recording sound onto digital audio tape or hard disk recorders.
ü Monitoring audio signals to detect sound-quality deviations or malfunctions.
ü Anticipating and correcting any problems.
ü Maintaining and repairing sound equipment.
ü Editing of game audio tracks in Nuendo or cubase, Logic Pro / Abelton live / Pro tools or Equivalent
Post-production activities include:
ü Integrating (synchronization) of pre-recorded audio (dialogue, sound effects and music) with visual content;
ü Re-recording and synchronizing audio (post-synching);
ü Mixing and balancing speech, effects and music;
ü Editing and Designing Sound effects;
ü Creating and altering sound effects for use in Games/Applications.
ü Mastering of audio tracks and designing of game audio tracks.
ü Editing and making of Promos of game play videos in Final Cut Pro.
Fresher’s: Candidates would get a chance to explore the field and will be able to learn Recording, Editing, Mixing and Mastering in software’s like Steinberg Nuendo, Logic Pro, Cubase Pro tools and handling studio equipments.
